LewCAS (Lewisham Churches for Asylum Seekers)

People from the Ascension Church support the LewCAS foodbank by donating food or cash on a regular basis.  The church also sponsors the scheme with a grant.

LEWCAS helps destitute asylum seekers by providing weekly parcels of basic foodstuffs for 14 families, as well as fares for those needing to travel to English classes. It supports local charities for asylum seekers, such as Lewisham Refugee Network, regional and national organisations such as London Churches Refugee Network, and national campaigns for justice for asylum seekers. The Ascension has two representatives on the LewCAS Committee.
